Damel is the older of Spain's two big candy houses we stock — founded in 1860 in Elche as a small bakery, now one of Spain's largest confectionery groups. The 2008 merger with STI Iberica gave Damel five plants across Spain and a portfolio that runs from gummies to chocolates to liquid caramel.
The story
The Damel Group quietly owns or operates several familiar Spanish candy sub-brands — Cheiw (chewing gum), Palotes (lollipops and liquid caramel), Pectol, Snipe, Casamayor. The Damel-branded line in our catalogue is fruit-forward chewy candy: Strawberry Dreams Swirls, fruit gummies, jelly pieces. Mass-market in Spain, specialty import elsewhere.
Signature products
- Strawberry Dreams Swirls — pink-and-white strawberry-cream swirls
- Fruit gummies and jellies
- Cheiw chewy candies (sister brand)
- Palotes liquid caramel and lollipops (sister brand)
Flavour profile and audience
Fruity, sweet, mass-market chewy and gummy formats. Less sour-leaning than Spanish neighbour Vidal. Mass-market, family-friendly, accessible Spanish candy.
Where Damel fits in the wider candy world
Damel and Vidal are the two Spanish heritage candy houses on most importer catalogues — Damel is the older, broader group; Vidal is the export-leader. They overlap in some categories (gummies, marshmallow) but the flavour profiles differ enough that you can stock both.
